How does a small company go about finding a reputable contract manufacturer? I have my own line which I make myself, but in the near future I may need the services of a contract manufacturer. The problem is that so many of them have their own lines they sell, that I am concerned about product duplication. What is to stop them from modifying my formula, and adding it to their library of product offerings? There are a few I have seen which specifically state that they do not offer private label, so this makes me feel better about them trying to duplicate my ideas. These are
Libby Labs (www.libbylabs.com) which states on their product development page "We do not have private label products which are ready to order products available for labeling with your own brand. "
Corwood Laboratories (www.corwoodlabs.com) which I found from the cosmeticindex.com site . They say on their site "We’ve worked diligently to create an environment that protects our clients, safeguarding their ideas, their formulas and the details of the projects we undertake on their behalf. Since we don’t produce finished products of our own, we are not in competition with our clients. "
BPI Labs (www.bpilabs.com). They say on their site "BPI Labs does not private label its own products or stock any finished inventory."
How does one find out about these companies, and are there more like them?
